I just got Penda's Little Black Book. I had honestly forgotten that it existed. It's novelty is causing me to leave the rest of the mail (which is a pretty hefty and intriguing stack, along with a package) forlorn downstairs.

I hardly write anymore. For now I'll blame baseball. My guys do so good. Youk's in the park homer last night was one of the best things ever.

I knit sometimes. I spin sometimes. Am I spread too thin?

Leigh, I keep meaning to email you. Yes :)

The northeast saw the sun today. And temperatures in the 70's when, truly, we would have been thrilled to see mid 50's. Amazing how spring can finally decide she's ready for us. Robins are finally here. Saw one on tuesday and two today as I looked down from my 5th floor office. Yes, you can see that red from 5 floors up. Maybe not see it so much as intuit it, but it was there.

I like to wonder at the people who have bitched about the last few weeks. Yes, it's snowing. Yes, it's April. No one considered that a) they're in New England and b) it didn't start snowing until February.

This winter was kind, and I do believe it's spring now.

Anyone who watched the Sox/Yanks game from my side of the allegience tonight should be quite pleased. 8th innings don't get much better than that, do they? And everyone can go nuts over Matsuzaka, but my heart belongs to Okajima. And Varitek will always remain my captain.

I have to go to bed. I'm helping run a knitting work shop at the book store tomorrow for National Library Week. The Knitting Borg with triumph.

I feel: content

Just got home from the gym. We (Chris and I) have been eating healthier (it's all in the planning, really) and working out for a month now. We're keeping score, and today was our first weigh in. Chris lost three pounds.

I gained one. Now, I'm not a numbers type of girl. I wish I could say my pants are a little looser, but they aren't. But I do feel better. And I jiggle a little less. We'll see how I'm doing in another month.

Well, I've got to go do homey stuff. I think I'm making a batch of lilac soap tonight, but I might just play Super Paper Mario and go to bed early ;) I'm full of suprises.

*dusts this thing off*

I've just been being a busy little girl. When I post online, it's almost always on my knitting journal which has slowly become my knitting and soap and spinning journal. All the rest is work and... well, isn't that enough?

Looking at the clock I realize that I don't have much time to post today, but I'll post more later.

Soap's good. I've got a few wholesale accounts (which is what I really want) and a few other outlets. Leigh, I have a package for you, my dear. It was good to wait, trust me. You'd be amazed at how much I've evolved as a soaper in 6 months.

I'll be back. Just had to fall of the face of the earth for awhile. You know me.

I got a job! A better one. THAT one! *points to... ehhhhh*

Oh well. I'll be doing tech support and no longer a part of the evil health insurance enterprise. Never mind that I'll be supporting the software used by providers' offices to submit claims... I'm sure the guy who makes guns at Smith and Wesson sleeps fine at night.

It means a nice raise, and I'll be working right down the street from Chris :D

There's more, I'm sure, but I'm just too lazy sleepy. MWAH!

Check this out:

Virginia public schools have a Friday forum they call "backpack mail". The children get a folder on every Friday filled with the usual take home stuff, and community news.

"The dispute started last summer when Gabriel and Joshua Rakoski, twins who attend Hollymead Elementary School, sought permission to distribute fliers about their church’s Vacation Bible School to their peers via “backpack mail.” Many public schools use special folders placed in student backpacks to distribute notices about schools event sand sometimes extra-curricular activities to parents.

School officials originally denied the request from the twins’father, Ray Rakoski, citing a school policy barring “distribution of literature that is for partisan, sectarian, religious or political purposes.”

A Charlottesville weekly newspaper, The Hook, reports that Rakoski “sicced the Liberty Counsel on the county,” and the policy wassoon revised to allow religious groups to use the backpack mail system.Liberty Counsel is a Religious Right legal group founded by MathewStaver and now affiliated with Falwell."

So, do you know what's cool about that? The local UU's pagans decided that they would use the open forum as well. Not because they agree with proselytizing, but because they weren't going to let Jerry have all the fun.

Take that, Jerry. Never thought that a little freedom of religion would mean all religions, and not just yours, huh?
